Deep Tissue Massage

Home / What We Do / Body Work / Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). This therapy is typically used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Massage therapists may use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms during a deep tissue massage. You may be asked to breathe deeply as the massage therapist works on tense areas.

After the massage, you may feel some stiffness or soreness, but it should subside within a day or so.  Drinking water often helps to flush the system of toxins, speeding up recovery time.

THE TRUTH IS: Deep Tissue Massage is not for everyone. We strongly recommend that you come in for a Custom Massage first – here, you can take time to discuss your specific concerns and needs with your therapist to determine if this type of therapy a good option for you!
